And while you’re at it, how about Moz?

Both are being actively pursued...

Such an enjoyable interview!

And the punchline is Gene Simmons holding his arms out and says, "Because he's hung like this!"

The joke at the end kills.

Mr. Moynihan is on quite a hitting streak here. Two episodes, both bangers! This is worth every cent of my subscription. And I have never been a Kiss fan.

I LOVE THIS MAN.

But who the hell is he?

(I mistakenly wrote this on Matts Substack Earlier, Apologies). I worked (Our company at the time) with Gene and all of the Original members of Kiss in the mid 90’s when they did the return to the make up reunion and went on tour (Love Gun Tour) and to say He was entertaining and vocal about everything would be a great understatement (and advice) . Great Fun with “My Summer with The God Of Thunder” ( I stole that from Madonna when she exclaimed working on League of Their Own as “My Summer with Laverne”) designing and setting up all the photoshoots for the tour and tour book etc.. was great, Peter had the best stories and was continually being told by Gene to “Peter keep quiet now”… “Ok Gene-o, Sorry”… The day a semi full of boxes with Every piece of Kiss wardrobe =,, guitars etc… from the very beginning was amazing to unpack (And maybe get a picture of me or my Dog wearing the Space Ace costume). Getting (And having to repeair) Aces smoking guitar rig and to have him see it for the 1st time in decades (That Focking Thing?") and him exclaiming after a few seconds “This focking thing Gen-o, It don’t work, this focking thing” “Ace calm down just give it a minute” Then smoke and He yells “More Smoke, Com’ on guys More Smoke”.. in that voice and shakes it as if before 20,000 fans.. And me and my Brother just out of frame pumping the smoke and holing the tubes to make it work, it was mind blowing).. Magical.... Watching until the end ("How much cake do you eat?") (When Shannon and the kids would come to visit She would make me stand watch while she smoked and had some tales about "Mr Sweet-tooth", She was really wonderful would sit in courtyard with us and just shoot the shit.) Anyways one of my my biggest accomplishments that Summer was telling Gene a joke, He in Full God Of Thunder make up and costume starring at me and He just broke out laughing When I asked him "How do you get a Nun Pregnant? " and looking at me right before going out on set "How?" "You fuck Her" He roared with laughter. My Brother just glared at me from the other side of the room. I shrugged. Great interview...

Consider me teased, Michael. I'm looking forward to watching the episode.

Straight bangers of late, Michael, congrats on the relaunch.

As a big fan since the earlier iteration of MR, as well as the Fifth Column, can I make a couple of guest requests/suggestions?

-Bryan Burrough: Loved Days of Rage, and am seething with latecomer envy at the environment he described in his nostalgic Yale Review piece about working at Graydon Carter's Vanity Fair.

-Salman Rushdie: I've yet to hear any interviews since his having been stabbed. Superb writer, and deeply entertaining conversationalist.

- Stu Smith: He's been covering the DSA for some time, and I'd love to hear an in-depth conversation with him about the group's entryism of the Democratic Party (https://www.city-journal.org/person/stu-smith).

- Michael Weiss: Terrific in the few conversations I've heard him, and it feels like astute analysis of Eastern Europe and the Middle East is always welcome.

-Catherine Belton: Not sure if you've read Putin's People, where she chronicles his rise and multi-decade subversion of the West, but I think more of us would benefit from understanding just how bad things are in Russia. I'd had an otherwise lucid friend recently compare Bibi to Putin (!) and Assad (!!!), and I think that Belton does a great job of showing why Putin is in rarefied territory.

I love Gene's Hyman Roth impersonation.

Banger after banger, Moynihan Report hitting like a freight train. Also, take my money for MM to sing “Wild Thing” in its entirety.

Is it not possible to listen outside of YouTube? Am I on the fly coach level or something???

Michael C. Moynihan's avatar

No coach for you!

It's on Spotify, Apple podcasts, etc, etc. We're just rolling this stuff out, but that should definitely work. There are some weird Substack things we're figuring out now, but you'll be able to listen here very soon.

Thanks. Great fucking episode!!! I suppose I’ll have to ask chatGPT why all the chicks love Jesus…

Would be cool if you could interview another Jewish rocker whose parents survived the camps, and has a connection to Kiss. Gary Lee Weinrib.

Also, if you have YouTube premium you can listen like a podcast, no need to leave the video on.

When I was 8 or 9 years old I used to pretend to be Gene Simmons or rather Demon with my sister and our girlfriends. Put on the Kiss album and rock out on the hamper (drums) and tennis racquets (guitars of course)

Amazing I still want to be him!
